FaMiLY DaY!

Yesterday we had a family day to celebrate Mommy's big 3-0! We had a day trip down to San Diego. Sea World baby - did I ever mention how much I like Sea World? I am SO thankful that Madison shares in my enthusiasm! Luckily she napped on the way down so when we stopped at Vista Point (Camp Pendelton), mommy and daddy had a chance to take some photos of just the two of them. We have not done that since BM (before Madison).

We arrived right before the Shamu show so we started there - what better place to start right? Here is Madison patiently waiting for the show to begin (that's right folks, she was patient!) Oh, notice the shininess from all the sunscreen I slathered on her?

And here is what we were waiting for - SHAMU!!!

While enjoying the show, I had an overwhelming sense of faith. How blessed am I that my husband took the day off and I was able to enjoy my special day with my family and watching the Shamu show through the eyes of my daughter. WOW!

Okay, enough sappiness! After the show, we ventured through all the exhibits and encounters - even stopping to smell the flowers. We saw sea turtles, flamingos, and seals.

Madison even tried to feed the sea lion her gold fish!

Then off to the manatee's and penguins.

While mommy went to the facilities, Madison suckered Daddy into buying her a "ducky" hat. She kept calling the penguin a duck. I say if it gets her to keep the hat on her head, sure, its a duck my love! Can you tell she started to get antsy at this point: "No walk!", "No stroll".

By then, it was time to head over to the dolphin show. Mommy LOVES dolphins - someday she will swim with them! I love this photo of her and I watching the show.

We then scurried over to the Sea Lion show. They changed it from the navy theme to a TV theme. It was SO cute!

So besides the dolphins, mommy also enjoys polar bears. It was funny, right after I snapped the second photo - the polar bear took a dump in the water - all the kids said "EEEWWW".

As we progressed through the Wild Artic, Madison had a chance to crawl through a "real" ice cave! You can see the excitement for yourself:

Since she was getting sleepy, we thought it was a wise choice to go to dinner before she fell asleep. We went to Seaport Village and ate at San Diego Pier Company right on the water. This restaurant is SO cool! Reasonable prices as well (unless you order salads and chowder to eat prior to your meal!). Here are some photos from after dinner - yes that is the Coronado bridge in the background.

  1. First of all, happy birthday! Second of all, SD and SW (uhh, that'd be San Diego and Sea World, Lol) are two of my favorite places. I'm SUPER jealous!! :)

    Love the pictures!
